The annual  Bamboo Festival by Bamboo Mission is a well-known event that was held in Kochi, Kerala, India. The festival showcases the various diverse uses of bamboo and highlights the unique qualities of this sustainable natural resource. Being the President of the Global Bamboo Institute in Wayanad, I have visited all stalls and made inquiries regarding research and market scope.

During the 2024 festival arranged in Kochi, several stalls offering various products made from bamboo were set up. These stalls included items such as furniture, clothes, accessories, home decor, utensils, gardening products, and much more. Many of the stalls were run by small-scale entrepreneurs who had successfully incorporated bamboo into their products, while others were run by established bamboo processing companies.

There was a strong demand for products made from bamboo, as evidenced by the large crowds that visited the stalls during the three-day festival. The products were well-liked due to their durability, sustainability, and aesthetic appeal, as well as their competitive prices compared to other materials.

Overall, the Kochi Bamboo Festival was a great success in demonstrating the potential of bamboo as a sustainable and versatile material that can be used in a wide range of products. The strong demand for bamboo products indicates that there is a growing market for sustainable and eco-friendly products, and that bamboo is well-positioned to meet this demand.
